The State of Tennessee House of Representatives in a joint resolution with the Senatepassed HJR784.Introduced by Rep. Joe Towns, it bestows the title International Ambassador of the Blues on veteran artist Bobby Rush.Bobby Rush, has recorded and toured for more than fifty years andhas taken the Blues and its culture all over the world.A Blues Hall of Fame member, Bobby Rush was selected by the Badaling Great Wall Foundation of Beijing, China as its official spokesperson in the United States in 2008 as a living pioneer of African American folk music.In September of this year Bobby Rush will represent the USA at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China. He will lead a delegation that will also explore business opportunities in China for the mid-south region in his continuing quest to create ties throughout the world that will benefit his people.It is proper then that the State of Tennessee has chosen during Black History Month to honor Bobby Rush as living black history as an artist, as a man, as a mentor and as a champion of the people. Mr. Rush will receive HJR784 on the Tennessee House Floor on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 9:00 AM.Thereafter at 1:00 PM, there will be a photo op with the Governor of Tennessee in his office.
